# Use your documents in your own tools

Create a Knowledge API token in Account, Developer, and your own tools can pull cited passages from your GPTree documents and conversations.

One call returns a block of evidence from your own documents with the citations attached. You choose whether GPTree writes the answer or your own model does.

When you create a token, you decide whether it can only read, or can also spend your credits on generated answers. Tokens can be copied and deleted from the same tab.
